Create a new Freighter wallet

Freighter is a self-custody wallet for the Stellar network. With Freighter, you can send, receive, and swap tokens and collectibles, or discover and connect to applications within the Stellar ecosystem.

Download Freighter

Freighter is available on mobile through the App Store and Play Store, and as a browser extension with Chrome and Firefox.

Create your wallet

Open Freighter and select "Create a new wallet".

Choose and confirm a strong password.

Confirm that you understand what a recovery phrase is and the importance of keeping it safe.

Write down your recovery phrase or copy it to your clipboard and store it in a safe place before continuing.

Confirm your recovery phrase by providing the three words requested.

Enable biometrics. This will streamline your login experience, enabling you to skip entering your password after being logged out.

Unlock your wallet using biometrics or your password.

Fund your account

To start using the account Freighter created for you, you must fund it with at least 1 XLM. Transactions also cost XLM, so while 1 XLM is the minimum balance, we recommend funding it with at least 2 XLM. To learn more about minimum balances, see How much XLM do I need in my wallet?

You can either select "Transfer from another account" if you have one, or select "Buy with Coinbase" to purchase XLM directly from within Freighter.

To transfer from another account, simply scan the QR code or copy and paste the address into your other wallet or exchange account.

What you can do in Freighter

Tokens: add, send, receive, and swap Stellar tokens or collectibles.

Discover: explore the Stellar ecosystem's applications. Connect with them directly within Freighter to interact and sign transactions.

History: review your previous transactions and their details.
